The Ondo State Police Command has announced heightened security measures ahead of the planned July 7 cult day, warning that anyone involved in cult-related activities will face the full weight of the law.
The command said tactical operatives have already been deployed across the state to prevent any form of unlawful gathering or violent activity associated with the annual event.
Police Deploy Tactical Units
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, said security personnel have been positioned in strategic locations to monitor and respond swiftly to any security threat.
According to the command, intelligence-driven operations will be intensified to ensure the safety of residents throughout the period.
The police stressed that officers will not tolerate any activity capable of disrupting public peace.
Warning Against Gatherings and Processions
The command cautioned suspected cult groups against organising processions, meetings, initiation ceremonies or public displays connected to the planned celebration.
It also warned that displaying cult insignia, carrying dangerous weapons or engaging in acts that create fear or panic among residents would attract immediate police action.
Authorities maintained that anyone found violating the law would be arrested and prosecuted.
Parents and Business Owners Advised
The police urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and discourage them from associating with unlawful groups.
The command also appealed to owners of hotels, lounges, bars, event centres and recreational facilities not to allow their premises to be used for gatherings linked to cult activities.
According to the statement, individuals or businesses found providing shelter or support for criminal elements could face prosecution.
Commitment to Public Safety
The Ondo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agency.
Residents were also encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement officers as security operations continue across the state.
