Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has placed Victor Osimhen among the three best strikers in world football, offering glowing praise for the Nigerian international after experiencing his abilities firsthand at Galatasaray.
Morata, who previously shared the pitch with Osimhen at the Turkish club, said playing alongside the Super Eagles forward gave him a close view of the qualities that have made the Nigerian one of Europe’s most highly regarded centre-forwards.
Speaking to Sporty TV, Morata said he particularly enjoyed operating alongside Osimhen and praised the striker’s ability to attack space and turn opportunities into goals.
Morata recalls playing alongside Osimhen
For Morata, Osimhen’s movement made attacking combinations relatively straightforward.
He recalled occasions when playing behind the Nigerian felt as simple as sending the ball into an open area and trusting Osimhen to reach it and finish the opportunity.
“Victor is one of the world’s top three strikers for me,” Morata said.
He added that Osimhen is among the best players in his position globally.
The endorsement is particularly notable because it comes from an experienced striker who has played at the highest level of European football and also had the opportunity to work directly with Osimhen.
Osimhen recovering from injury
Osimhen is currently recovering from a groin injury, temporarily keeping him away from action.
The Nigerian striker has nevertheless continued to attract attention for his performances since moving from Napoli to Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Morata’s assessment adds to the growing recognition surrounding the Super Eagles star and inevitably opens another debate among football supporters:
